Open Heart Operating Room

Stephen I. Kushins, MD
Stephen earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then completed an anesthesiology residency and adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology Fellowship at Duke University. He now brings his passion for anesthesiology to the patients of Gwinnett as an anesthesiologist at the Stickland Heart Center.

Rex B. Foster, III, MD
Rex earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He then completed an anesthesiology residency at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University and a critical care fellowship at the Emory University School of Medicine. He has spent his career working in cardiac anesthesia, most recently serving as section chief for Cardiac Anesthesia at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta. Now he’s bringing his experience and expertise to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he will work as an anesthesiologist in the Strickland Heart Center.

Wendy S. Moran, CNOR, RN
Wendy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. A certified operating room nurse, Wendy has spent her entire career working in the field of heart surgery. Before becoming Gwinnett Medical Center’s clinical manager of open heart surgery, she managed 22 operating rooms at Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Ronnie Green Heart Center in Gainesville. She is excited to have a part in establishing the new open heart surgery program at Gwinnett and is looking forward to putting her passion for cardiac surgery to work for the Strickland Heart Center’s patients.
